Katie (she/her) believes connection is the heart of therapy. As a therapist, her goal is to create a nonjudgmental, positive space where clients feel seen and supported. Katie focuses on holistic wellness, believing that people are much more than their symptoms or diagnoses. Using evidenced based techniques and theories such as CBT, person-centered, psychodynamic, and relational-cultural, Katie supports clients in developing effective coping skills and creating a more confident sense of self. She finds it important to work with clients to determine what pace and techniques work best for them, as the client is the expert of their own life. By supporting clients in their wellness journey, they can begin to better themselves, gain insight and learn to use that self-awareness to create healthy change. Katie has training in alcohol and drug abuse and trauma and crisis counseling and has background working in elementary and early-childhood education. She also strives to incorporate social justice into her work and believes it is important to understand the influence of our society’s unjust systems.
Katie has her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wisconsin Stout. She is currently working towards LPCC licensure in the state of Minnesota.
