Meet Kaity Fischer, Wild Tree Intern
Hello—
My name is Kaity Fischer and I am the newest student intern at Wild Tree! I am currently finishing my Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services at Saint Mary’s University. My undergraduate degree is in social work from Viterbo University. Prior to joining Wild Tree, my work experience has been in acute hospital units (adult and adolescent), crisis services, residential treatment and case management.
Outside of work and school, I love to cook, travel and spend time with my two cats, Aura and Aster. I am also a DONA trained birth doula. Although I am not currently practicing as a birth doula, I am excited to incorporate this knowledge and skillset into my therapy practice.
I chose to pursue counseling because I have always been drawn to birth work but found myself more intrigued by the mind-body connection during the perinatal period, rather than the medical aspect. Although that is what drew me to the field, my interests have grown to encompass much more than just perinatal mental health. I have become very passionate about creating a safe, non-judgmental space for topics that are not yet openly discussed in our society such as those relating to trauma, grief and sexual health.
When exploring different practicum sites, I was very drawn to Wild Tree due to the staff’s welcoming nature and the holistic, person-centered approach. While at Wild Tree, I look forward to growing both as a clinician and personally as a human. I am confident that the diversity of the clinicians at Wild Tree will provide me with exposure to a wide range of styles and specializations which will help me further explore my own interests and approach.
I am so grateful and excited for the opportunity to join the Wild Tree team. Thank you for being a part of this journey.
