Eating Disorders and Perinatal Women | Beyond the Baby Blues 2018 Conference

We are excited to announce that Sonja Kromroy, MA, LPCC and Emily Carlson, MA will be presenting at this year’s Beyond the Baby Blues Conference hosted by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) MN, the University of Minnesota School of Social Work, and Pregnancy & Postpartum Support Minnesota.

Eating Disorders and Perinatal Women
Pregnancy and postpartum is a time where women
struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating and
weight concerns is the utmost importance to address. Both
areas of mental health, eating disorders and perinatal mood
and anxiety disorders have important considerations for
language, interactions and support. Depending upon
historical context, current symptom use and diagnosis, some
women demonstrate an improvement of their eating
disorders during pregnancy which is demonstrated through
research. Other women however have an increased risk for
triggering amplified symptom use or transition to new
eating disorder symptoms, potentially placing both the
mother and baby at risk for further mental health difficulties
as well as negative birth outcomes.

Wild Tree Psychotherapy, LLC is a proud sponsor of this event.
