Markela (she/her) is currently a Masters student at Northcentral University in the Marriage and Family Therapy program. Prior to her program, she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Making a positive impact in the lives of individuals and their families has always been a motivating element in her life. She has a strong passion for breaking dysfunctional intergenerational patterns, cultivating relationships as well as advocating and empowering the marginalized voices in the community. Her goal in therapy is to give the next generation the tools and techniques they need to thrive in an ever-changing world while helping them grow into their authentic selves. Her special interests include: children, communities of low socioeconomic status, individuals and couples with PTSD and intergenerational trauma in BIPOC communities. Markela has previously worked with children with trauma, attachment disorders and social/behavioral problems. She is trained in the Developmental Repair Model and is eager to continue building on her educational foundation.
